Update

Nationals has come and gone along with the Tour. Louisville didn't quite go as I had hoped for. The weather turned from bright sunny skies in Ohio to gray and pouring rain in KY. Our small field of about 25 riders blew apart after 20 laps and I find myself in a chase group of five between the leaders and the leftovers. We rode strong together and almost caught back on with 30 to go. With 20 laps to go, the lone breakaway artist caught our group and rode with us until the ever so smart USA cycling officials pulled us. Fearing that we were helping this rider stay away. I also heard it was due to scoring and the weather. I guess USA Cycling can't count higher than ten. It was very upseting being so close to the end. I mean come on, there was only 15 riders circling around including us. Well that lone breakaway got caught and spat out the back of the charging main group of nine riders. Then the officials insisted on pulling him! Wasted effort, I must say.

Next up was the TOV criterium on Sunday, the last day of racing. I would've liked to have done the whole stage race, but couldn't get time off from work. Anyway, I was really hoping for a decent race to boost my confidence a little. It was field of about 40 Pro 1-2 riders. I stayed in the field the whole way. Heard the that bell ring on the final lap! It was just a nice one to finish.

Westlake has been very disappointing for me this year. Every week I can't seem to get in the groove. I can keep up no problem, but can't make the breaks. It's frustrating to say the least. Just don't have that snap in the legs on Tuesday's I guess. Three more for me this year.

Coming up is our trip to Colorado to visit our good friends Steve and Robyn. Who are getting married on August 15th on top of a mountain in Crested Butte. We can't wait to load up and get out of here for a week. The high mountains in Colorado have always been one of my favorite places to go. The air or lack thereof really makes me feel good. Stina and I will be doing the usual ride up Lookout, Mt Evans, and possibly Independence in Aspen. Trail Ridge parkway in the National Park may also be ridden depending on time. We are also planning some more hiking this time around as well.

Will have the Colorado trip report next time.

See you out there!
